This gender reveal party was an EPIC hit, and definitely one that everyone who attended will remember! It was the first one I did for our family, so I went all out, while staying within a budget. Everything turned out perfectly!
Decorations On a Budget!

First things first! DECORATIONS. I love when a party looks like a party and nothing does this better than Balloons and Streamers! I chose Plink and Blue, for obvious reason. Gender reveal parties look so cute decked out in Pink and Blue colors. I added white balloons because I like three colors better than two for balloons.
…and nothing goes better with Balloons than streamers! I love that both are so affordable and make any area look and feel like a party. I made my balloon arch the day of. It really doesn’t take long to do with my balloon arch tricks. all you’ll need are…
The steps are simple.
- You need an air pump for this to go fast! If you try and blow up as many balloons as you need for an balloon arch by mouth, YOU WILL PASS OUT! My Rainbow has an attachment that allows me to blow up balloon.
- Set your balloons out in front of you out of their package. I used a pack of 72 white and (2) packs of 24 blue and pink balloons.
- Blow up the balloons into three different sizes. I kept most of my white balloons big and my colored balloons smaller.
- Once they’re all blown up. Thread your fishing line to your needle.
- Gather the BIGGEST of the color of balloon your have the most of. (One color)
- Using your needle thread through the balloon’s end, after the knot. (The stubby end, with no air in it)
- Bunch them together and tie them off once you get a about a fourth of the balloons on this strand.
- Now, thread a new line of fishing line to the needle and do the same things with some smaller balloons. this one needs the colored balloons in it.
- When you have these to strands of balloons tied off, you will wrap themselves around each other like a DNA strand and tied them up where you want them. These two strands will be the fattest part of the garland and should be place when you want the center to be. (It is easier to tie them up with two people!)
- You should still have about a third to a fourth of your balloons left after these two strands are made.
- Use the leftover balloons to make smaller strands for each end, but save a few smaller colored balloons for filling in gaps.
- Use duck tape to fill in any gaps with the smallest colored balloons.
I only used a few streamers for this party. Which is quite unlike me. I did this partially because I ran out of time, and partially because I didn’t want it to take away from my cute balloon garland.
Food on a budget!
There is so much proof behind the saying, “If there’s food, they will come.” So… since I wanted to enjoy this Epic Gender Reveal with as much family as I could safely invite (safety, because of Covid_19), I turned my Gender Reveal party into a BBQ! Clint and I provided the Burgers and condiments, and then I kindly requested willing family to bring things they make so well.
for example…my Mother-In-Law makes an amazing Broccoli Salad and a secret recipe of Raspberry Jell-O Dessert. She was more than Happy to provide her dishes for the party. Then I ask my mom if she wouldn’t mind bringing Chips and Drinks. She brought Pink and Blue Cool-Aid, spiked with Sprite to go along with the Pink and Blue theme.
I finished off the food with Pink and Blue Rice Crispy Treats colored with food coloring.
It all looked great with the Pink and Blue table clothes, plates, and forks. In the end, a stranger passing by would have known exactly what our party was for! The Pink and Blue was exploding everywhere!… and speaking of exploding. The actual reveal made the whole party an Epic Reveal.
The Epic Gender Reveal!
I browsed a few ideas for how to announce our babies gender, but one stood out above the rest. The Confetti Cannons! I watched a short Clip of a couple being showered with the confetti as the cannon’s pink or blue confetti revealed their baby’s gender! I just had to do that.
At 16 weeks pregnant I had the Sonographer check the gender of our baby. She kept it a secret from me. She printed off the ultrasound picture and sealed it in an envelope. I took the envelope to my friend and she purchased twelve confetti cannons. Now! I’m not saying you need 12 confetti cannons to have an Epic rainfall of confetti. I chose 12 due to the number of adults coming. I wanted the majority of them to have the opportunity to fire the cannon.
…and yes! I wanted the rain of confetti to be thick, huge and memorable!
Guess The Gender!

I gave everyone who attended our Gender Reveal Party the opportunity to guess what the gender of our baby was. They simply stood on my right if they thought I was having a Boy, and those who thought I was having a Girl stood on my right. We passed out the cannons and kept one for Clint of course. With the count down 3…2…1… The cannons fire and and BLUE confetti rained down on us! It was everything I was hoping for the.
Our families cheered and the kids ran to the confetti and wasted no time dropping to the ground to make confetti angels on the grass. We laughed and kissed as we all found out together that our family would soon be joined by a sweet little boy in March.
…and fret not. The confetti is biodegradable. We did our best to rake and mow it up afterward, but the sprinklers quickly helped it degrade and disappear entirely.
